The Seven Deadly Sins of Running Your Doula Business

This was an amazing course! It really gave me focus and so much more confidence.
— T.F

This course is part of Doula Business Day!  Attend both and SAVE!

Birth is such a moving experience for everyone present, especially for those who are tending to the mother with love and support.  But after the ether wears off and reality shifts, it is easy to wonder what is happening to your doula dream.  After all that money and time invested in becoming trained, it is a genuine surprise to find that this career is harder than thought.

Created in 2009, and published in 2011, this one day workshop is designed for existing and new doulas with the objective of creating business goals, building business strategies and understanding the need for continuing education. Participants will learn their unique value proposition, social media strategies, marketing techniques and business skills. This is done in a small class setting through fun activities, learning exercises and open discussion for personal development.

There is something about Loree that defies explanation. She can simultaneously challenge you, encourage you, and give you the tools to solve the problem, all without missing a beat. Whatever preconceived notions someone has about doulas, doulas business, or business consulting, they should throw them out the window before sitting down with Loree. She will shatter every stereotype and every box you have placed yourself or your business in. Learning from Loree has been a privilege, but it has also provided me with tools to grow my business and better serve my clients. - M.G.

About the presenter:

Loree Siermachesky has always known building a business from the ground up can sometimes be a lonely, stressful and all-consuming process. With 18 years of experience as a birth doula, and a personal history of assisting at more than 1500 births, she has blended the heart work of being a doula with the reality of running a full-time business. She brings to you the value of her experience with a degree in Marketing and Visual Communications, the recognition of her community as the 2013 Medicine Hat Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year recipient, a three generation family history of entrepreneurship, and an impeccable reputation as a birth doula in the province of Alberta.

"This course is a must-have for every doula who plans to run a business, keep-up with websites and social media advertising and produce business cards, pamphlets etc... That's right - every birth and postpartum doula should attend this session. Running a doula business is simply broken down into what you should and should not do. I learned so much about how to attract my target clients and how to advertise in a way that efficiently draws people in.   You will learn what is "worth it" in terms of investments and time-spent by our Alberta Doula scenes' experienced, leading professionals. I have gained clients through the knowledge that I accumulated while taking this workshop. If you have any doubt or questions about running a doula business - this workshop will prepare you!!"
